Transneft Volga Region has received a positive conclusion from the Federal Autonomous Establishment State Expert Appraisal Authority (FAI Glavgosexpertiza) for implementation of a project for revamping a section of the Guryev – Kuybyshev oil trunk pipeline (OTP).
The works will take place in Volzhsky District, Samara Region. As part of the technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme, a pipeline with a length of 1.8 km will be revamped at a section between the Samara site and the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery. The goal is to maintain high reliability of the infrastructure, ensure uninterrupted oil transportation.
When designing, the requirements of current regulatory documents of Transneft, federal legislation in the field of industrial, fire and environmental safety were taken into account.
During the project implementation, an underground pipe section with a diameter of 720 mm will be laid. The section to be revamped crosses highways, including a section of the Samara – Orenburg federal route, as well as overhead and underground utilities. Highway crossings will be made by laying 1,020 mm diameter pipes with a three-layer polyethylene factory insulation coating in a protective sleeve.
Pipes of K56 strength class or higher with a wall thickness of 8 mm (second quality level) were selected for the pipeline section construction. There are no plans to install line stop valve units in the project area.
The work is scheduled to begin in 2022.
