Transneft Volga Region has commissioned a new mainline pump and an electric motor at the Popovka modular group pumping station (MGPS) in Bavlinsky Region of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Electric pump unit replacement works at the Buguruslan Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate began in January as part of the technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme. The goal is to increase the operational reliability of the station equipment and maintain uninterrupted oil transportation via the Nizhnevartovsk – Kurgan – Kuybyshev oil trunk pipeline.
Dismantled equipment, which has reached the end of its standard service life, was replaced with the mainline pump unit (MPU) manufactured by Transneft Oil Pumps (Chelyabinsk) with a pumping capacity of 10 thousand m3 of oil per hour. For comparison, the capacity of the pump allows to pump a volume of oil equivalent to 143 tank cars with the capacity of 70 m3 each. A new synchronous electric motor with a capacity of 8000 kW manufactured by REM (Chelyabinsk) was also installed. The new equipment is characterised by high efficiency and extended overhaul intervals.
In addition, the technical upgrading of the auxiliary systems and equipment of the pump station was completed. Oil supply systems of the MPU located in a separate enclosure were replaced with a modernized oil unit. Pipelines of a leakage and drainage system were also replaced, modern sensors of vibration, temperature and pressure were installed.
The new equipment was connected to the infrastructure of the Nizhnevartovsk – Kurgan – Kuybyshev oil trunk pipeline and, after comprehensive testing, was put into operation on schedule.
The equipment replacement was carried out with a scheduled decommissioning of the MPU, while oil transportation via the oil trunk pipeline was carried out under the standard protocol.
In 2020, 15 mainline and five booster pump units, as well as 16 electric motors were replaced at the operating facilities of the Samara, Buguruslan, Saratov and Volgograd RPD.
The installed electric pump equipment meets Transneft’s regulatory requirements, increases the operational energy efficiency of process sections of the oil trunk pipelines and allows maintaining high industrial and environmental safety of company’s facilities.
