Transneft Volga Region has reduced expenses by RUB 22.4 million as a result of the implementation of the Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement Programme in 2019.
The results were achieved due to a whole set of energy saving activities, including optimisation of operating modes and increasing productivity of process sections of oil trunk pipelines, as well as increasing efficiency of mainline pump units.
In order to increase the pumping equipment efficiency in 2019, work was carried out to replace, overhaul and perform midlife repairs of the units and optimise the set of installed rotors. 9 mainline pump units (MPU) were replaced, new rotors with improved operating parametres were installed for 17 MPU, overhauls of two high-voltage electric motors were carried out at the Buguruslan modular group pumping station.
In 2019, four synchronous electric motors manufactured by Russian Electric Motors were installed at the facilities of the Samara and Buguruslan Regional Oil Pipeline Directorates. The electric motors are characterized by high energy efficiency and an extended service life. In addition, a digital electric motor excitation controller was mounted at the Samara-2 OPS. The installation of the equipment allows optimising engine operating modes, reduces power consumption due to losses in the networks and ensures reliable and uninterrupted oil transportation through the Kuybyshev – Lisichansk OTP.
The implementation of the energy-saving measures allowed to save more than 5.7 million kW * hours of electric energy.
In 2019, in the administrative and amenity building of the Bugurslan RPD, as well as at the Sovkhoznaya line operation dispatcher station and the Samara RPD utility vehicle and special-purpose machinery department, modern block-modular heating plants manufactured by Transneftemash Factory of Velikiye Luki were commissioned. The heating plants equipped with energy-efficient fire-tube boilers allowed to reduce the cost of boiler and furnace fuel along with thermal energy by 118.5 t.o.e. or 25.15 Gcal.
All vehicles in the business units of Transneft Volga Region are equipped with the GLONASS system, which allows to both ensure full control of the movement of vehicles and meter the cost of fuel according to the actual consumption of each transport unit. The motor fuel savings were achieved by improving the management of vehicle movement and acquiring new modern vehicles and totalled 40 t.o.e.
A solar plant (SP) of 842 solar panels with the total electric power of 252 kW was commissioned at the site of the Central Production Service Shop. The solar panels are used as an alternative source of the maintenance shop power supply.
In April 2019, a certification audit was conducted at Transneft Volga Region, based on which the compliance of the Company's energy management system with the ISO 50001:2011 international standard was confirmed.
The implementation of energy-saving activities in 2019 allowed Transneft Volga Region to use energy resources in a more efficient manner and reduce operating costs during oil and petroleum products transportation via trunk pipelines.
