The first stage of the Best in Profession contest for blue-collar specialists has come to an end at Transneft Volga Region. The main goal of the contest is to increase the level of professional skill, develop a creative attitude to work and provide for sharing of experience among the contest participants.
168 contestants representing all the branches of the Company, including Buguruslan, Samara, Saratov and Volgograd Regional Oil Pipeline Directorates (RPD) as well as the Central Production Service Shop (CPSS), demonstrated their knowledge and skills to the contest committee.
The following 10 blue-collar jobs were represented at the contest: the line pipeliner, the petroleum products pumping station (PPPS) operator, the commodity loading operator for oil, the chemical analysis laboratory assistant, the instrumentation and automation fitter, the electrical equipment repair and maintenance fitter, the processing units repairman, the truck driver, the excavator driver and the electric and gas welder.
This year, the main competitions were held at the operating facilities of the Central Production Service Shop, Samara Line Operation Dispatcher Station (LODS) of Samara Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD) and Novokuibyshevsk Educational Complex. The competitions consisted of a theoretical stage and a practical stage. The participants demonstrated their knowledge of regulatory and reference documentation applicable to their jobs. During the practical stage, the contestants were to apply their skills and professional abilities they use in their everyday work.
According to the results of the three-day-long event, the contest committee determined 44 winners of Stage 1 of the Best in Profession contest of professional skills. The first stage winners will participate in the Best in Profession contest at the level of Transneft Volga Region, which will be held in Samara in May 2019.
