Date of publication: 27 February 2019

Transneft Volga Region has summed up the results of its activities in the energy saving field in 2018. The actual annual savings of the Company from the implementation of energy saving activities amounted to RUB 22.11 million. This result was achieved thanks to the introduction of modern energy-efficient technologies and equipment with improved energy characteristics.

Most of the savings came from optimising process modes for transportation of oil and petroleum products in 2018 – as a result, the reduction of electricity consumption amounted to 6 million kWh, which saved more than RUB 20 million.
Activities of the department of vehicles and specialty vehicles provided a significant part of savings due to the implementation of activities aimed at optimisation of transport routes, reducing non-productive runs and improving transport discipline as well as renovating the fleet of motor and specialty vehicles. More than RUB 1.1 million was saved thanks to the measures taken in this area.

Cleaning oil and petroleum products pipelines inner surfaces and mud trap filters from paraffin deposits and oil sludge permitted to save RUB 415 thousand.

Last year, at the Company’s facilities, the outdated equipment was replaced with modern, more effective pieces. In particular, 30 new electric motors and 21 mainline pumps were commissioned, which made it possible to save 30.72 thousand kWh or RUB 102.62 thousand.

In August 2018, modern block-modular boiler houses with automatic regulation of the heat supply mode were commissioned at the facilities of Krasny Yar line operation dispatcher station of Volgograd Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD) and Central Production Service Shop. The economic effect amounted to 119.45 tonnes of oil equivalent (t.o.e.), or more than RUB 329 thousand.

Overhaul of the heating networks of Samara-1 and Pokrovskaya oil pumping stations of Samara RPD with the total length of 1.98 km was carried out. Furthermore, pipes with modern heat-insulating materials were used.
During the reconstruction of CPSS facilities in Novokuybyshevsk, 840 solar panels with the total capacity of 252 kW were installed.  The technical implementation of the project took place in the third and fourth quarters of 2018. Two autonomous units of solar stations were commissioned in order to provide alternative power supply systems for onsite lighting of Volgograd RPD facilities.

The target indicators for reducing the specific electricity consumption were performed in full in 2018 by business units of Transneft Volga Region. The implementation of energy-saving activities allows the Company to use energy resources in a more efficient manner and significantly reduce operating costs.

The energy saving programme continues to operate in 2019 in Transneft Volga Region.
