Transneft Volga Region has assisted in the implementation of a project to create a lecture hall dedicated to operation of oil pipelines and methods of repairing them on the basis of the Petroleum Engineering faculty of Samara State Technical University (Samara STU).
Samara STU is the leading educational institution in the region, which prepares professionals for Transneft subsidiaries.
The auditorium was opened during a business meeting between heads of Transneft Volga Region and the faculty’s professors and students. The meeting was held in the new lecture room and was organised as a discussion of the main directions of cooperation between the Company and the faculty.
The lecture room has uniform design, its furniture was completely replaced, and multimedia equipment was purchased. Learning aids in the form of 3d models with elements of augmented reality were provided. The lecture room is equipped with mockup models of equipment and devices, information stands and art objects as well as an accent wall with 3d infographics. The created auditorium will make it possible for students to actively use the learning aids depicting operation of pipeline transportation facilities during their studies, learning new material more efficiently.
Transneft Volga Region not only provides charitable financial support to the university, but also actively participates in the educational process. The Company supervises students, pays an additional scholarship to the most talented ones and provides them with jobs at its business units after graduation.
A cooperation agreement was signed in 2001 between Transneft Volga Region and Samara STU. Since that time, the Company has been providing targeted financing and supervising of the Pipeline Transportation department of the Petroleum Engineering faculty. Lecture halls and computer classrooms were repaired at the department with the Company’s financial support. A corporate auditorium of Transneft was created and equipped with an audio and video complex providing students and specialists of the Company’s subsidiaries with the opportunity of distance learning. In 2014, an educational and methodical center was opened to provide students with practical classes devoted to acquiring working professions skills; the center issues qualification certificates according to the students’ results.
In 2017, the Company allocated funds to open a thematic mechanical process equipment auditorium. It is planned to equip two more thematic auditoriums devoted to tanks and tank equipment and to diagnostics and non-destructive testing methods as part of the department’s development for 2019 – 2020.
