Transneft Volga Region Starts Implementing Year of Occupational Health Activities

Transneft Volga Region has started implementing activities that make part of the Year of Occupational Health declared at Transneft subsidiaries in 2019.

Its main goal is to increase the level of awareness of employees about working conditions, to develop and promote responsibility for compliance with safety rules.

The thematic year’s list of goals includes preparing the Company’s business units for passing an occupational health management system certification audit.

A children's drawing and applied arts contest, as well as a photo contest were announced in January. The contests will be held in two stages, that will be over in April.

Transneft Volga Region will hold Occupational Safety Day on the eve of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, this being the fifth time such an event is organised by the Company. During the event, specialists summarise the results of the Company’s activities during the year and choose the leading business unit in terms of occupational safety.

It is planned to publish materials and show footage in regional mass media, hold the Best in Profession contest, a youth science and technology conference, conduct open lessons at schools and hold lectures at higher educational institutions. Representatives of the Company will participate in the Russia Health and Safety Week 2019, to be hosted in Sochi.

Each employee of Transneft Volga Region is continuously involved in the process of ensuring occupational safety within the occupational health management system (OHMS) certified for compliance with the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 international standard. Instructional briefings are regularly conducted, personnel are educated on occupational health, dedicated working conditions assessment is carried out at workplaces, industrial control and audits are held.

Transneft Volga Region annually allocates significant funds for improving working conditions and implementing activities to prevent occupational injuries. Based on the results of the audits, annual personnel meetings are held at the Company’s business units.
