Transneft Volga Region has hosted a sports tournament for the entities of the Transneft system in Volgograd. The event was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad.
Volleyball, basketball and mini-football competitions were held within the two-day tournament between the teams of the following four Transneft subsidiaries: Transneft Primorsk Port, Transneft Finance, Transneft Druzhba and Transneft Volga Region.
Larisa Ilchenko, an Olympic champion of the women's 10 km open water marathon swimming and the only eight-time world champion in the history of Russian women's swimming sports, became an honorary guest of the Tournament. She made a speech at the opening ceremony of the Tournament, congratulated the participants and wished them good luck.
Transneft Volga Region’s athletes won the competitions in all sports within the Tournament. All the winners and awardees of the competitions received memorable cups and medals.
In addition, the participants made a tour of the places of military glory of the defenders of Stalingrad. The athletes visited Mamayev Kurgan Memorial Complex and laid flowers at the monuments dedicated to the defenders of Stalingrad.
Winter and summer sports tournaments, as well as other sports events for entities of the Transneft system are held annually and are an important component of the corporate culture. Sports events contribute to establishing intracorporate connections and strengthening the employees’ team spirit. The purpose of such tournaments is to promote fitness and healthy lifestyle.
