Transneft Volga Region has finished the works on diagnostics of tanks and industrial pipelines, which had to be performed in 2017.
This year full diagnostics of four tanks with total capacity of 35 thousand cubic metres, partial diagnostics of 27 tanks with total capacity of 565 thousand cubic metres, and monitoring of a tank with the capacity of 5 thousand cubic metres were performed at the facilities of Transneft Volga Region.
Diagnostics of the tanks was performed at the facilities of Samara, Buguruslan and Saratov Regional Oil Pipeline Directorates. Specialists of Transneft Diascan, Tekhekspertiza and TsentrDiS performed a complex of works, including analysis of technical documents and visual and instrumental control. Technical reports with assessment of condition of the tanks’ constructions and specifying the operating life regarding each defect and construction element were prepared according to the results of the conducted works.
Specialists of the standalone business unit of pipeline transportation scientific and engineering centre (SEC of Transneft R&D) performed technical examination of steel vertical tank No. 9 with the capacity of 20 thousand cubic metres at the oil blending station (OBS). For testing the new research methods they used such devices as laser scanner and ultrasonic defectoscope with phased arrays designed for control of welded joints according to the requirements of the standard documents of Transneft.
Besides tanks diagnostics, external diagnostics of industrial pipelines with the length of 19 km was conducted this year. As the result of start of 76 pipeline inspection gadgets (PIGs), diagnostics of oil trunk pipelines (OTP) with the total length of 5.6 km was performed. Some sections were inspected twice using different types of tools (total length of OTP of Transneft Volga Region is equal to 4.8 thousand km).
In-line inspection of industrial pipelines with the total length of 6.2 km was performed at Samara-2 oil pump station (PS) of Samara ROPD (Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate).
All the works were performed as part of the combined diagnostic inspection programme of Transneft facilities. According to the results of the inspection, the industrial facilities of Transneft Volga Region received approvals of extension of their safe operation periods.
