Transneft Volga Region completed scheduled repairs at oil trunk pipelines

Transneft Volga Region completed scheduled repairs at the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk, Zhirnovsk-Volgograd, Saratov-Kuzmichi, Almetievsk-Kuibyshev-2 oil trunk pipelines (OTPs). Overall, the repairs involved 720 persons and 353 special vehicles and pieces of equipment.

Fourteen gates were replaced and eight more underwent mid-life repairs, twelve defects were cut out, and four T-bends were replaced during scheduled shutdown of the oil trunk pipelines on 3-6 October 2017 at the linear section and oil pump stations. Gate No. 24 was transferred at the Zhirnovsk-Volgograd underwater crossing in the Ivovlya river. Two built sections (44.7 and 42 km long) were hooked up at the Zenzevatka – 1193 km section of the Kuibyshev – Tikhoretsk OTP.

The work was done to enhance operational reliability of production facilities, pursuant to the statutory requirements to oil pipeline operation.

Main pump unit (MPU) No. 4 was demounted at Samara-1 PS of the Samara Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate (RPD), in the main pump station of the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk OTP.

MPU No. 2 was mounted at Ternovka-1 PS of the Saratov RPD. Mud trap filters and pressure control units (a T-bend in the discharge line from the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk OTP) were hooked up at Efimovka LODS of the Volgograd RPD, and T-bends with gates were tied into the manifold of the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk main pump station (MPS). T-bends with gates were tied into the MPS manifold of the Zhirnovsk-Volgograd OTP at Kuzmichi-2 PS, and MPU No. 2 was tied at the Yekaterinovka PS. A pipeline surge relief system (PSRS) disposal tank was dismantled at the Komsomolets modular integrated pump station (MIPS) affiliated with Buguruslan RPD in Nizhnevartovsk-Kurgan OTP running in the reduced output mode.

Employees of the line emergency operation divisions at pump stations and central maintenance divisions (CMDs) of the Samara, Buguruslan, Saratov, and Volgograd RPDs performed the entire scope of scheduled operations. The work was simultaneously done in 26 sections, including 13 pits. CMD teams from Transneft Kama Region, Transneft North, Transneft Upper Volga, and Transneft Central Siberia were engaged in the work.

The scheduled OTP and PS efforts were completed under the integrated technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme of Transneft Volga Region for 2017.

The Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk, Zhirnovsk-Volgograd, Saratov-Kuzmichi and Almetievsk-Kuibyshev-2 oil trunk pipelines were set to work in line with the schedule.
