Transneft Volga Region, JSC completed the activities for revamping the oil pipelines electrochemical (cathodic) protection system. In October 2015, Transneft Volga Region, JSC completed decommissioning of the old equipment for electrochemical corrosion protection of oil pipelines in Samara, Buguruslan, Saratov, and Volgograd Regional Oil Pipeline Departments. It was replaced with the equipment of enhanced reliability with improved energy characteristics.
Service personnel of the regional oil pipeline departments replaced 45 units of cathodic protection rectifiers with the new invertor-type cathodic converters of modular design.
The new equipment has a higher efficiency (90% against 70% of the old equipment), provides energy saving and minimizes non-production losses of electric energy. Modular design of converters allows to increase the power of plants when necessary.
The works were done within the Technical Upgrading and Overhaul Program of Transneft Volga Region, JSC for the period until 2020 as per the provisions of the Energy Policy of Transneft, JSC.
