The first round of the 13th Youth Scientific and Technical Conference (STC) completed at Transneft Volga Region, JSC. The event was attended by 138 people: 92 young specialists employed by Transneft Volga Region, JSC and 46 students of the Pipeline Transport department of the Samara State Technical University (SamGTU).
Young professionals of the Company and students competed in eight thematic sections:
- Oil Trunk Pipelines Design and Operation, Construction and Revamping;
- Mechanical Power Equipment, Corrosion Protection;
- Automation of Process Control Systems and Communication;
- Industrial, Fire and Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety;
- Dispatching Control. Commodity Transportation Activities, Metrology;
- Economics, Management, Legal Matters;
- New Approach Analytical and Theoretical Projects for Innovative Development of the Company’s Sector, Technology, and Manufacturing and Business Processes;
- Student Section.
31 participants of the Conference came through to the final; the finalists were awarded diplomas, letters of appreciation and gifts. In addition to that, 15 SamGTU students were granted Transneft, JSC scholarships.
When summing up the Conference results, members of the contest committee noted that the professional level of the majority of the works presented in 2015 had improved significantly.
Scientific and technical conferences are an important part of Transneft, JSC’s activities aimed at training highly qualified personnel.
The innovative works which won the first round of the Conference can be probably used in the production process and bring significant economic benefits in the future. For example, in 2014 the foreman Ivan Shapovalov and the deputy chief of Bolshaya Chernigovka station Zhaksygali Uvaliev (young professionals of the Samara Regional Oil Pipeline Department of Transneft Volga Region, JSC) became winners of the second round of the 12th Transneft, JSC Youth Scientific and Technical Conference and then won prizes in the finals in Ufa. Their project of the alternative powering of the PIG traps will be applied at the facilities of the pipelines linear part in the near future. The project authors made calculations for alternative power supply sources based on the PIG traps being constructed on the 1218-th kilometer of the oil trunk pipeline Guryev – Kuibyshev.
The next stage — the second round — of the Transneft, JSC Young Professionals Scientific and Technical Conference (Section No. 1 Oil Trunk Pipelines Design and Operation, Construction and Revamping) will be held in February 2016 in the city of Samara.
