In Transneft Volga Region, JSC, the stewards of the Trade Union Committee play an important role in ensuring occupational safety and health. A key area in the work of the Company’s trade unions is the control of safe working conditions, systematic coordination of the established system of public control. A special attention is paid to the issues of injury prevention, workers’ health protection, implementation of programs to improve working conditions.
Coordinating the work of the stewards in charge of OHS, the Trade Union of Transneft Volga Region, JSC, assigns to its front line the task of providing moral and material support to its militants, ensuring that they act not only as controllers but also as agitators, propagandists of safe working conditions. The goal is inadmissibility of any violations in the stewards’ primary labor collectives and strict implementation of work regulations.
An evidence of high importance of this work direction was the competition for the title of «The Best Trade Union Steward in Transneft Volga Region, JSC, in charge of OHS – 2014», which was held in late February.
The first place in the competition was awarded to Lyudmila Korchunova, engineer of distribution stations servicing site (DS SS) of the Krasnoarmeyskaya LODS of the Saratov RPD. Prize places and monetary rewards for victory were granted to: Rafail Nazipov, electrician of the power equipment servicing site (PE SS) of the Popovka modular group pumping station (MGPS) of the Buguruslan RPD, Oleg Karnaukhov, electrician of the PE SS of the MGPS «Komsomolets» of the Buguruslan RPD, Svetlana Erofeeva, technician of the Lyubetskaya PS of the Samara RPD, Anatoly Ermolaev, electrician of the PE SS of the Erzovka MGPS of the Buguruslan RPD, Sergey Alfimov, foreman of the Mashtakovo oil heating station of the Samara RPD, as well as Nadezhda Rogalevich, boiler operator of the PE SS of the Ternovka LODS of the Saratov RPD.
The competition showed how important is the work of the Trade Union stewards, because it is one of the stages of the control as a part of a complex labor protection system. At this crucial stage, objective information about existing drawbacks may be critical for preventing more serious violations, ensuring reliable protection of workers’ life and health.
